Ronny Elliot is another talented and revered musician I met through shooting for the media. His brought his southern accent and Rockabilly style, mixed with his irreverent lyrics, made him a Tampa Favorite for 30 years.
As with many of the creatives I have collaborated with to make a portrait, I sat with him and asked about his life. I wondered what he would have become had he not found music. He told me he had taken an aptitude test many years before. What is the top of the recommended vocations? A priest. Perfect! As we chatted about it, it turns out he pretty much fulfilled that role. His music spreads his gospel. Shooting him in front of this awesome but closed-down Church on Palm Avenue made perfect sense. It set the scene for the Church of Ronny.
Tampa lost a son when he fell in love and moved to England in 2022.
