Photography 101

This is a five week class designed to help you gain a better understanding of your camera, camera settings, photo composition, lighting, and aperture and shutter settings. Photographs will be taken both in and outside of class with weekly assignments to help gel class lessons. Each class will consist of time devoted to one aspect of photography and one aspect of technology related to photography. You can learn artistic, technical, and practical uses for your camera. The next class is scheduled on Tuesdays March 2,2010- March 30,2010 at 7:00 PM at the Florida Museum of Photographic Arts, 200 N Tampa Street Suite 130, Tampa, FL 33602 at the corner of Ashley and Jackson streets.

Course Content

Week 1. Introduction to camera types, advantages of digital and film cameras, parts and buttons on your camera, and getting your photos into your computer

Week 2. Understanding exposure. Take your camera off “auto” by learning shutter speeds and apertures (f-stops) This is THE most important class. Also learn the meaning and use of depth of field.

Week 3. What is white balance? What makes a good photograph. KISS and composing portraits, artistic shots, nature and landscape photography

Week 4. Introduction to lighting. Understanding on and off camera lighting methods.

week 5. Camera lenses, types and applications; introduction to the digital darkroom. Learn cropping and red eye removal

Cost of the 5 week class; $140.00 for non members and $110.00 for members (membership is $30- might as well sign up) CLASS SIZE IS LIMITED
